Tornado Jonez 2022 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity

Proverbs 16:9 “We can make our plans, but the LORD directs our steps.”

A horse that was purchased to be a youth/non-pro horse to carry a young girl into her college years, turns out to have a heart and determination that goes on to win the NRCHA 2022 Snaffle Bit Futurity!  Jonez was purchased and was in training to be a non-pro horse. After a few months, the trainers saw something special in Jonez and thought he may have potential to compete as an open horse at the Futurity. The owners were on board entering Jonez to compete in the Snaffle Bit Futurity, thinking this would further his training and would add great value and experience for him and his future rider. The owners had no expectations for Jonez and wanted the trainers to have fun doing what they do best. As Jonez progressed through the preliminary events, he moved his way up to finals. Jonez and Lee Deacon were a crowd favorite going into the last event. God was in the building that night and could be felt by many as the cow entered the arena. Jonez went after that cow like he knew that is what God created him to do. As Jonez finished up his last circle on the cow, the crowd was on their feet cheering. We knew then it would be a run to remember. God was with them. “It was ALL God!” was repeated throughout the night. It takes a great rider and a great horse to compete at this level. God knew the rider Jonez needed and only used the owners to reach him. This night was all about Jonez and Lee and God working through them. Jonez will always remind us to "give God the reins to our life" and see where He leads us.
